Welcome . . .
. . . to the Grey Nomad 101 web site.
If you get just one good idea from this DVD, it will more than justify watching it. But you'll probably take away dozens of useful tips, based on Sid and Sandies' real-life caravanning experience.
If you are after this kind of information yourself, or looking for a unique gift idea, please read on.
What's the DVD all about?
It's about how to go long-haul caravanning in Australia, and it's packed with all kinds of tips and advice. Much more "user friendly" than a book, it's as entertaining as it is informative. A great watch whether you're just about to buy a caravan, or have already been towing one for years.
Here's the spiel from the cover of the DVD:
"There are thousands out there doing it. Now you want to join them. But where do you start?
Sid and Sandie didn’t have a clue. So they did their homework for two years, then spent their money on a rig and hit the road. And they made every mistake in the book, including buying the wrong van for such a trip!
So after two years on the road, figuring out what they should have done in the first place, they’ve put their valuable experience at your disposal. Sid talks you through the process so you can get a better idea of what will work best for you. It will save you time and money . . .
Plus great footage of some of the places they went to on their journey, to whet your appetite. Around 4 hours of informative tips, tricks and traps, presented in Sid’s easy going, laid-back style.
This is not a TV show hosted by a celebrity presenter. Rather, it's authored and presented by someone who has actually been out there and done it."
Topics covered include:
- Questions to ask when choosing a van.
- How to set it up, what to take with you.
- What tools will you need on the road.
- Typical caravan 12volt wiring, from batteries to inverters.
- Communications on the road.
- The fire bucket.
- Photography - simple steps to ensure you take great pictures & video.
- How to handle some of the bugs and pests.
- Some great wildlife footage.
And much more, including an hour-long sub-menu covering some of Australia's top locations to visit.
And - it's also a computer disk with some bonus files, including a spreadsheet of everything they take with them, which you can modify and use for your own situation - many people say they find this extremely useful. (If you've got the DVD and don't know how to access the files, click here.)
Sid's News
There was insufficient space to include everything I wanted to in Grey Nomad 101. Also, feedback received has identified further topics that need addressing. Therefore . . .
GREY NOMAD 102 IS COMING so stay across this site for updates. When it comes out (hopefully by end of year) I'll try and give existing customers (ie GN101 buyers) a special deal.
GN102 will not be a re-hashed GN101. Rather it will contain all new information, along with more "Places We've Bin". It's a sequel, and will assume the viewer has already watched GN101.
Errors. I'm pleased to say they are very few - many thanks to the good people who have reported them to me.
